We will be having a Raku Firing between 11 AM - 4 PM. Please bring 2-3 bisque pieces no larger than 14 inches in combined height or width.* Pieces will be ready to take home THAT DAY! Join us for this intensely fun and exciting day at Barlow Clay in Sonoma County!
*The combined height and width of your three pieces should not exceed 14." Please only bring three pieces total to fire. Thicker walled pieces that are more vase like work best. Platters, small flat objects, and extremely heavy pieces are not recommended. If you're bringing slab built work please ensure that you've slipped and scoured heavily on attachment points.
PORCELAIN JEWELRY MAKING WORKSHOP
w/ Didem Mert
Ever think to yourself, “I’d really like to make my own jewelry”? Well, look no further! This two part series workshop will include a day for making the ceramic pieces for your soon to be fabulous jewels and a day for attaching metal components and findings to your ceramic jewelry.
January 27th will be dedicated to learning how to color porcelain clay and slip to make all the colors of jewelry your heart desires. You will learn forming, stamping, and sprig mold techniques from Didem Mert. All participant work will be fired and ready to assemble on February 10th.
On February 10th Didem will work with students to show materials and techniques to fasten pendants and earrings onto metal components. She’ll also show how to create more custom metal components using sterling silver wire and wrapping techniques. Each participant will be given enough metal components to create a necklace and a pair of earrings.
Clay tools (needle tool, ribs, X-Acto, stamps, texturing tools, etc.)

WHAT IS A WORKSHOP?
Great question! Workshops are hands-on-learning experiences instructed by a talented individuals from around the world. We select a handful of artists to spend anywhere from one day to a week at Barlow Clay teaching our participants about the techniques and concepts that the workshop instructor is recognized for.
HOW MUCH IS A WORKSHOP?
Workshops vary in price dependant on the instructor we bring, the amount of participant spaces we have available, duration of days, materials needed, etc.
