Our goal at Barlow Clay Residency is to bring in talented, hard working, community driven interns. We expect our interns to be engaged in their studio, in their internship duties, and the community here in Sebastopol, CA.


  • paid housing

  • 24/7 access studio space in our Launch Pad (educational building)

  • potential commission based projects in the Barlow and surrounding Bay area

  • potential paid teaching opportunities at Barlow Clay and Clay By The Bay

  • access to all workshops (we’ll be hosting about 12 workshops, including a train-kiln building workshop, in June of 2019)

  • discounts at a handful of businesses within The Barlow

  • discounted materials and tools

  • mentorship opportunities

  • first priority for a residency at Barlow Clay

    • dependent on a new application submission for a residency and meeting discussing work ethic shown during the internship


  • No less than 16 hours and no more than 20 hours a week of work. This can include, but is not limited to:

    • glaze mixing

    • helping staff with clay mixing

    • glaze formulation

    • building projects

    • office desk sitting/cashier

    • taking images

    • working on community based projects

    • help with and assisting workshops

    • teaching/assisting

    • cleaning

    • landscaping

    • etc.

Applications for internships are due on March 1st, 2019.
